Sometimes self-criticism develops for a reason
Self-criticism often is not random. At some point it may have developed as a way of creating structure, avoiding mistakes, staying connected, or protecting yourself from disappointment. What once felt helpful can eventually become exhausting. Even when things are going well, it can become difficult to slow down, rest, or feel enough.
How therapy can help
Therapy can become a space to slow down and become curious about the relationship you have developed with yourself. Together we may explore emotional patterns, experiences beneath self-criticism, and the ways these experiences may also live in the body.
My approach combines somatic and relational therapy while making room for curiosity and compassion rather than judgment.
